Cochrane 2022 Journal Impact Factor

The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) Journal Impact Factor is 8.4. This is a change from the 2021 Journal Impact Factor (JIF), which was 11.874.

The CDSR JIF is calculated by taking the total number of citations in a given year (2022) to all Cochrane Reviews published in the past 2 years (2021 and 2020) and dividing that number by the total number of Reviews published in the past 2 years (2021 and 2020). While JIF is a useful measure of average citation frequency, it is not the only measure of success or impact. As in previous years, Wiley will be compiling the main Impact Report as well as the individual Review Group reports and datapacks (for all active CRGs). The reports are due to be circulated in August 2023.

In the meantime, some take-aways of the CDSR 2022 JIF include:

  • The CDSR is ranked 22nd of the 167 journals in the Medicine, General & Internal category (in the 87th percentile)
  • The CDSR received 83,897 cites in the 2022 JIF period, compared with 92,845 in 2021 (continuing to remain in the top 5 in the CDSR’s JCR category)
  • The 5-Year JIF is 10.9 compared with 11.956 in 2021
