Nirmatrelvir combined with ritonavir for preventing and treating COVID‐19

The combination of nirmatrelvir with ritonavir (Paxlovid®) is a new medicine developed to treat infection with the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus and aims to avoid severe COVID‐19 in people without symptoms, or those with mild symptoms. This new review assessed the efficacy and safety of nirmatrelvir/ritonavir (Paxlovid®) plus standard of care compared to standard of care with or without placebo, or any other intervention for treating COVID‐19 and for preventing SARS‐CoV‐2 infection

Update: Adding rapid diagnostic tests to community‐based programmes for treating malaria

The WHO recommends parasitological testing of all suspected malaria cases using malaria rapid diagnostic tests (mRDTs) or microscopy prior to treatment. This update of a 2013 Cochrane Review examines whether adding mRDTs to community-based malaria programmes improves treatment of people with malaria or fever.

Accuracy of measures for antiretroviral adherence in people living with HIV

Health staff sometimes use questionnaires, counting pills, pharmacy notes, or gadgets to estimate if people with HIV are taking their antiretroviral drugs. None of these approaches were reliable when compared to viral load testing, according to the authors of this new Cochrane review
