Main interests

a)      Evidence synthesis in infectious tropical diseases, maternal and child health.

b)      Capacity building in research synthesis and evidence-based health care.

c)      Practice guidelines, clinical audit and clinical trials (mostly on treatment of malaria). 

Consortium work areas 

  • Preparing systematic reviews and training/supporting other Nigerian authors to prepare and update Cochrane Reviews.
  • Evaluative research and clinical trials mostly for malaria.
  • Supporting and promoting development and use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

Current projects 

  • Three Cochrane Reviews ongoing: “Educational interventions for complementary feeding”, “Intermittent preventive treatment for malaria in infants” and “Antibiotics for septic abortion”.
  • Updating three key Cochrane Reviews: “Preventing unwanted teenage pregnancy”, “Fluoroquinolones for typhoid fever” and “Hand washing for diarrhoea”.
  • Partnering with two national specialist medical societies and one State Ministry of Health to develop evidence-based practice guidelines – topics in pneumonia, kidney care and primary care practice priorities for State Health Service.
